A decision on the planned refurbishment of Temple Bar Square involving the removal of restaurant outdoor seating has been adjourned by Dublin city councillors.

The meeting agreed to refer the plan back to the area committee to consider the effect on restaurants.

Head of Parks Services Leslie Moore said it was being considered to "reuse" the cobblestones as was done in Merrion Park.

The cobblestones would have the tops sheared off and they would be placed closer together to make the streets more accessible.

Meanwhile, councillors agreed to a plan for a park on Bridgefoot St which was agreed following years of campaigning by local residents.
