Man appears in court over €2m drug seizure in Clare

A 32-year-old man has appeared before a special sitting of Ennis District Court charged in connection with the seizure of €2 million worth of cannabis in Co Clare yesterday.

Odhran O'Brien, with an address at Cahermurphy in Kilmihil, Co Clare, is charged with possession of 100kg of cannabis and possession of the drugs for sale or supply on 8 May.

Garda David King of Ennis Garda Station gave evidence of arresting the man.

He told the court the accused made no reply to the charge after caution.

John Casey, who was assigned as Mr O’Brien’s defence solicitor, made no application for bail this evening.

He told the court an application would be made for bail at the next court hearing.

Judge Adrian Harris remanded the accused in custody until next Wednesday, 13 May.
