Five bursaries worth in excess of €20,000 are being offered by the Axis Theatre in Ballymun in Dublin to help artists during the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will also be an additional €12,000 worth of 'support in kind' is also available via mentorship, residency and development space and other supports.

The bursaries include up to €8000 for theatre makers, supported by the Arts Council.

There will be a fund of €6000 for theatre as Gaeilge or bilingually, with two mini commissions to be developed for Seachtain na Gaeilge 2021, supported by Foras na Gaeilge

A six month residency and bursary worth €6000 for an artist with a disability, supported by the Arts Council will also be made available.

A bursary for a young actor, director or theatre maker from North West Dublin aged between 16-22, and a bursary for young visual artists aged 16-22.

Axis Director Mark O' Brien said the scheme will offer artists funding and support and is also a way of staying in touch and collaborating with the community in Ballymun and beyond.
