A man in his 40s has died in a shooting in Coolock, north Dublin.

The victim was shot dead in the driveway of a house on Kilbarron Avenue at around 3.30pm.

He was shot a number of times, including at least once in the head, and died at the scene.

It is understood that the man did not live in the house, which was the home of Sean Little, a 22-year-old man whose body was discovered beside a burning car at Rowan’s Little, Walshestown last week.

Three men wearing balaclavas were reported seen leaving the scene of today's shooting in a silver Toyota Avensis (04-D-71806).
