The CEO of FBD Insurance, Fiona Muldoon, is facing an internal investigation, according to a statement issued by the company.
FBD Holdings said in the statement that the company had received a press enquiry about "internal allegations made against the chief executive, Fiona Muldoon".
It went on to say that an investigation into this matter was ongoing, but it did not outline any specific details.
A spokesperson for the company said it was not in a position to provide any further information on the matter, beyond what was contained in the statement at this time.
The statement from FBD said that the investigation was being conducted "with due regard to the rights of all the parties involved".
The company said that Fiona Muldoon remains in her position as Chief Executive of FBD.
Fiona Muldoon took over as CEO at the Insurer in late 2015, after first serving as the company's financial officer.
FBD paid its first dividend to shareholders since 2014 earlier this year.
Ms Muldoon joined the company from the Central Bank.
