A 44-year old man and a 33-year-old woman have been charged at the District Court in Cork with the murder of John McManus in October 2008.
John Walsh, of Carrigmore Park, Ballinlough, in Cork city and Gillian Purcell, with an address care of the Simon Community in Cork and originally from Hollyhill in the city, were remanded in custody.
Mr McManus, 25, lived at a flat on Wellington Road in Cork and was last seen in the city on 30 October 2008.
His family in Fermoy became concerned for his safety after a number of days had passed without any sighting of him.
Over a week later, Mr McManus's body was discovered in marshland on the side of a road near Ballyduff in north Kerry.
A post mortem examination revealed that he had suffered injuries to his head and upper body.
Gardaí began a murder investigation and conducted forensic examinations at the scene where Mr McManus' body was found and at his flat on Wellington Road in Cork.
This morning Ms Purcell was brought before the district court charged with murdering Mr McManus at his flat on Wellington Road on 30/31 October 2008.
Mr Walsh was also arrested this morning and charged with the same offence.
Both were granted legal aid and were remanded in custody for a week.
