Lusk - Couple abducted by gang
Lusk - Couple abducted by gang

An investigation is continuing into the kidnapping of a bank employee and her husband in Dublin.

The woman was abducted at 9am yesterday morning after she had dropped her child at a crèche.

She was then forced to go to the Bank of Ireland in Coolock and hand over what is believed to have been around €130,000 in cash.

Following instructions from the gang, she left the money in a gold coloured car, on Greenwood Avenue in Coolock.

Her husband was taken from their house in the Dun Emer estate, in Lusk, Co Dublin, and driven away in a white van to Carraigmore Estate in Citywest, south west Dublin.

He managed to free himself five hours later.

The couple are said to be severely traumatised but otherwise unhurt.

Gardaí from Coolock and members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating the incident.

They have appealed for anyone who may have noticed suspicious behaviour in the Dun Emer or Carraigmore estates yesterday to contact them.
