A gang is being sought after a Bank of Ireland official was forced to hand over €130,000 while her husband was held hostage.

The gang abducted the woman at 9am after she had dropped her child to a crèche.

Her husband was abducted at their house in Dun Emer estate, Lusk, Co Dublin, and taken away to Carraigmore Estate in Citywest in South West Dublin.

He was kept in a white van and at 2pm he managed to free himself.

The woman was then forced to go to the Bank of Ireland in Coolock and hand over what is believed to have been around €130,000 in cash.

At approximately 11am the money was left in a gold colored car at an agreed drop off point on Greenwood Ave in Coolock.

Her husband managed to free himself and gardaí are now waiting to interview the couple who are said to be severely traumatised but otherwise unhurt.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has noticed any suspicious activity to contact them on 6664200, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
