The Moriarty Tribunal has cost nearly €30m since it was set up ten years ago, according to the Taoiseach who was answering questions about the inquiry in the Dáil today.
However the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, indicated that the final bill would be much higher when third party costs are taken into account.
Mr Ahern told Opposition leaders that the tribunal hoped to complete its work within months.
He said the inquiry's legal team had received €23m and added that the other tribunals were operating on a lower fee structure.
