Gardaí believe the murder of a 37-year-old man in Finglas in the early hours of yesterday morning could be drugs related.
The victim, Derek Duffy from St Attracta's Road in Cabra, was shot several times in the head as he sat in the passenger seat of his car in Casement Park at around 4am.
Flammable liquid was then sprayed into the car and set alight.
Detectives are still trying to trace the movements of that Audi A4 and the silver saloon which they believe the gunmen used to escape from the scene.
The bravery of neighbours who pulled Mr Duffy's body from the burning car has also been praised.
Gardai are still trying to establish a motive for this latest gang-related murder.
Derek Duffy was known to gardaí; he was attacked before and the unemployed single man was also a suspected drug dealer.
Detectives believe two men could have been involved and they have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them at Finglas Garda Station on 01-6667511.
