A murder investigation is under way after a man was shot dead in an apparent gangland attack in north Dublin early this morning.
The body of a man was discovered in a car at Casement Park in Finglas shortly before 4am this morning.
It is understood he may have been shot in the car and that his killers then tried to set the car on fire.
Residents who heard the shots came out and pulled the man from the car, but he had already died from his wounds.
The scene has been preserved for a full technical examination and the man's body has been removed for a post mortem examination.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Elsewhere in the city, gardaí are investigating a shooting in Fairview on the city's northside.
Several shots were fired outside a supermarket on Annesley Bridge Road at around 8.30pm last night.
There are no reports of any injuries.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and want to speak to the driver of a red Toyota Avensis that was in the area at the time.
