The nephew of murdered Limerick crime boss Kieran Keane has been sentenced to three months in prison for being drunk and abusive.
Liam Keane, 23, of Singland Gardens in Ballysimon and Nicholas Lyons, 25, of St Mary's Park, were arrested in Limerick city at 8am yesterday for public order offences.
Keane has been jailed for three months while Lyons will serve a six-month prison term.
Gardaí told the court today the two men were drunk and were causing disturbances at a number of locations in the city.
They said they believed the men were celebrating and being triumphalist about yesterday's Court of Criminal Appeal decision to turn down an appeal by Kieran Keane's killers.
Gardaí said the men had also abused members of the gardaí.
Both men were brought to the district court yesterday afternoon to face charges but were remanded in custody, as they were too drunk for the case to proceed.
Today the court heard they both apologised for their behaviour.
Judge Tom O'Donnell said it was clear both men had a serious attitude problem, and the level of abuse and threatening behaviour to gardaí was outrageous and unacceptable.
He sentenced Liam Keane to three months in prison, and Nicholas Lyons to six months.
