Gardaí in Waterford have announced they have made significant progress in their efforts to identify the killer of 35-year-old Meg Walsh.
The news comes as her family prepare for the church removal of Ms Walsh’s remains this evening
Officers believe that her killer may also have been the last person to have driven her car.
Meg Walsh's body was recovered from the River Suir in Waterford on Sunday following a two-week search, mounted after gardaí were alerted to her disappearance.
At a news conference this morning, officers said they had identified the person who parked her car in the Uluru car park shortly before her death.
Gardaí say they are satisfied that Meg Walsh knew her killer. They are appealing to that person to come forward.
A specialised dog unit from Britain, which was involved in the Soham murder investigation, was to search Meg Walsh's home in Waterford again today.
Ms Walsh's removal took this evening at 7pm to Killavullen Church in Cork and she will be buried tomorrow following requiem Mass at midday.
