The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has expressed his complete confidence in the current leadership of An Garda Síochána.
Speaking to RTÉ Radio following yesterday's publication of the latest reports from the Morris Tribunal, the minister said garda management also appreciated the need for reform of the force.
He also said he agreed with the tribunal's finding that Detective Sergeant John White was responsible for planting a gun at a Travellers halting site in Co Donegal.
Last month, Detective Sergeant White was found not guilty in court of planting the gun.
The three reports published yesterday stated that proper discipline had been lost in the force as a whole.
Minister McDowell said he believed there was a significant degree of support among the public for the majority of gardaí but there was still a need for reform.
