Hello! Magazine has won its appeal in London against an order to pay more than £1m to OK! Magazine over the publication of photographs of Hollywood couple, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas.
The magazine owners brought the appeal after the High Court ordered them to pay the damages for publishing pictures of the couple’s wedding.
A judge ruled last year that Hello! had breached the film stars' rights of confidence and awarded the £1m damages to OK! Magazine which had signed an exclusive deal with the couple, while the Hollywood A-listers received £14,600.
During the appeal, the magazine argued that using ‘spoilers’ was a well known industry tactic to obtain pictures.
