The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív, has published draft guidelines aimed at helping public bodies to improve the quality of Irish language services.
Under the Official Languages Act 2003, approximately 650 public bodies are statutorily obliged to prepare a scheme to provide a range of services in Irish, allowing Irish speakers to access as many services in their language of choice.
The process of drafting a scheme by public bodies is due to take place in September.
Members of the public may submit observations or proposed amendments up to the end of this month.
