Police in California have confirmed that they are investigating new child abuse allegations against the pop star Michael Jackson.
The Los Angeles Police Department said it launched the probe after being alerted by prosecutors last month about claims that Jackson abused a child in the city in the late 1980s.
No further details have been released.
The singer is already facing separate child molestation charges in Santa Barbara County.
The charges were filed against him following his arrest in November over allegations that he molested a 12-year-old boy.
