Shannon plane damage trial begins

The trial of a woman charged with causing criminal damage to a US plane in Shannon Airport has begun.

Mary Kelly is alleged to have caused the damage on 29 January last.

She is charged on a first count of criminal damage to a 737 aircraft to the tune of $1.5 million.

Ms Kelly is also charged on a second count of trespassing on the airport grounds, contravening the airport by laws.

She pleads not guilty to both charges
