Five people accused of causing criminal damage to a US naval plane and of trespass at Shannon Airport on 3 February have succeeded in having their trial hearing transferred to Dublin. The trial was due to start in Co Clare next week.
The five are Damian Moran, Kieran O'Reilly, Nuin Dunlop, Deidre Clancy and Karen Fallon, all with addresses in Dublin.
The trial was due to begin at a Clare Circuit Court sitting in Kilrush next Tuesday, 24 June. All five are pleading not guilty.
At Limerick Circuit Court today counsel for the five successfully argued there was a danger they would not get a fair trial in Co Clare.
It was claimed that a local jury from Clare could be biased about the alleged activities of the accused at Shannon Airport, which was so important to the economy of the county.
