Pop impresario jailed for sex abuse

The pop impresario, Jonathan King, has been jailed for seven years by the Old Bailey in London for sexually abusing young boys. King, who is 56 years old, was found guilty last September of six charges of sexual assault involving five boys, aged between 14 and 15, between 1982 and 1987.

He denied the charges. But the trial could not be reported until today, because he faced three other trials for similar offences. However, the court heard today the other trials were being dropped.

King's defence counsel said he would be appealing against the conviction. The court heard King had had a successful career as a pop singer, record producer, radio and television presenter, and journalist.
