Neil and Christine Hamilton are considering suing Scotland Yard for unlawful arrest. The former Conservative Party MP and his wife said that they are also considering bringing a case for wrongful imprisonment.
The couple was questioned about the alleged sex attack on a 28-year-old woman. Their solicitor, Michael Coleman, said that he would be looking at whether or not the police acted in good faith.
Mr Hamilton angrily denounced the police decision to arrest him and his wife Christine as a "public scandal" outside their flat in Southwest London yesterday. Mr Hamilton said that it was clear that claims made by a young woman, alleging that they had committed a serious sexual assault, had been "a complete tissue of lies and fabrications".
