A massive 216 women have died violently in Ireland since 1996. To raise awareness of this tragic statistic, Friday 24th of November is International Day Opposing Violence Against Women.
To mark the occasion, Women's Aid Ireland has invited the nation to wear purple ribbons and asked the country to take part in a moment of silence at 12:30pm this afternoon.

Women's Aid Ireland stands in solidarity with women affected by domestic violence around the world, which is why Norah Casey chose to work with them for the 2017 Women of the Year Awards.
