It has been reported that by 2030, 90% of Irish adults will be overweight. Furthermore, a shocking report led by DCU showed that some Irish teenagers have the heart health of a 60-year-old. We caught up with Ray D'Arcy at the launch of season 10 of Operation Transformation to find out what he thinks of the obesity problem in Ireland and what exercise means to him.

Ray is no stranger to Ireland's health issues as he regularly covers numerous issues from smoking, addiction, mental health and more on his radio show. When asked how he feels about the World Health Organisation's report saying that Ireland will soon be the fattest nation he had this to say:

"We're supposed to be doing an hour a day. Kids are supposed to be doing an hour of exercise a day. I doubt that many families in this country are meeting that requirement."

Ray is known for keeping fit with a daily morning run, when asked why he finds exercise so important he said that having a fitness routine is as much as about mental health as it is about physical.

"I don't know where I'd be without exercise"
