Mustering the energy to cook properly for yourself after Christmas is always a bit of an ordeal.

Weeks of sweets, mince pies, full roast dinners and maybe the odd takeaway here or there has left us craving the easiest of comfort foods, and the freezing cold January weather only makes it worse.

But as the saying should go, when there's no will to cook for yourself, there's a way to get around it on TikTok.

The social media platform has given us endless hours of entertainment, craft inspiration, beauty tips and unshakeable memes but maybe its most valuable contribution to the past year has been its food hacks.

From the whipped and frothy TikTok coffee to the ingenious way of eating cake out of a wineglass, TikTok never fails to make food at least interesting again if you've hit a cooking wall. And the latest viral hack is easy and delicious, to boot.

Even Donal Skehan has given the folded wrap sandwich hack a go, posting a tutorial on his Instagram yesterday and racking up 265,000 views.

You simply take a tortilla wrap, cut a slit into one side from the centre of the wrap to the outside and place your assortment of toppings on each of the four corners. Donal started his with scrambled eggs on one side, salsa and red onion on another, spinach in another and finally grated cheese in the last one.

Starting from the cut edge, fold the wrap into four segments, each topping-filled corner sitting onto the next. From there, you can fry it up on your pan until golden and crisp like Donal does, or put it into a countertop grill like many TikTok users are doing.

The best part of the hack is that it's incredibly versatile and can be made using any fillings you want. Try a caprese version with mozzarella, tomato, basil and pesto for a taste of an Italian summer, or try a sweet version with chocolate spread, marshmallows and any kind of sweet treats you fancy.

We particularly love this hack because it's easy to throw together when you can't be bothered to make a full and elaborate lunch for yourself. Leftovers clogging up the fridge? Throw some cheese and egg into a wrap, add the leftovers and you have a filling breakfast burrito or dinner.

But it's also ideal for kids. We've spotted versions on TikTok that include chicken nuggets, cheese and ketchup – a kid's dream lunch.

We just wish we knew about it when the Christmas dinner leftovers were still around.
