Irish director John Carney, whose credits include the Oscar-winning Once, is to direct a biopic of pop icons the Bee Gees.
US entertainment trade publication Deadline says the film from studio Paramount Pictures will include surviving Bee Gee Barry Gibb among its executive producers. GK Films, the company behind the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and the Elton John biopic Rocketman, is producing.
The film will be written by John Logan, a three-time Oscar nominee for his work on Hugo, The Aviator and Gladiator.
Belfast Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh was originally attached to the project but left due to scheduling conflicts.
Dubliner Carney's other credits include the film Sing Street and the RTÉ series Bachelors Walk. He is the creator, executive producer and director of the acclaimed Amazon Studios series Modern Love.
