Irish eyes on today's Oscar nominations

The nominations for the 94th Academy Awards will be announced at lunchtime today, with Irish hopes high in a number of Oscar categories.

Kenneth Branagh's semi-autobiographical Belfast is tipped to receive multiple nominations for a cast that includes Caitríona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Jude Hill and Ciarán Hinds.

The Lost Daughter star Jessie Buckley and Passing's Ruth Negga could also be among the contenders in the Best Supporting Actress category.

In the Best Original Song category, U2's Your Song Saved My Life from Sing 2 and Van Morrison's Down to Joy from Belfast could be vying for the Academy Award.

The nominations will be announced at 1:18pm Irish time. The Oscars take place on Sunday, 27 March.
