Singer Miley Cryus has denied she is expecting her first baby with husband Liam Hemsworth.

It had been rumoured that the newlyweds, who married in December, were expecting a baby girl. The magazine OK! Australia quoted an unnamed source claiming that the stars are celebrating happy news.

Cyrus has now taken to Twitter to deny the rumours while referencing the viral egg meme.

Responding to a report, she wrote: "I'm not 'Egg-xpecting' but it's 'Egg-celent' to hear everyone is so 'Happy For Us' .... we're happy for us too! 'Egg-cited' for this next chapter in our lives.... Now , can everyone leave me alone and go back to staring at an egg."

The egg she is referring to is from a viral Instagram account which earlier this week beat Kylie Jenner's record to become the most liked post on the social media platform.

Cyrus and Hemsworth, known for starring alongside one another in 2010's The Last Song, tied the knot in December.

25-year-old Cyrus confirmed they had wed via Instagram, sharing a handful of pictures from their intimate ceremony.
