Thousands of you have nominated thousands of songs for consideration by our jury, who now have the task of selecting the 10 shortlisted folk songs that will form the heart of the search for Ireland's Favourite Folk Song.
Presented by Mary Black, Ireland’s Favourite Folk Song is a national celebration of the songs that define us as a people. We are a nation of storytellers, and throughout the centuries, our songs have immortalised the real, lived experiences of the citizens who have lived on or passed through this island.
We've been bowled over by the huge variety of songs you have nominated for consideration, and the level of engagement around the campaign so far. We've really enjoyed watching such a wide range of suggestions come in, and we've particularly loved reading your reasons for nominating your chosen song.
All your suggestions will now go forward for consideration by our specially selected jury. They are: Ruth Smith, Diarmaid Ferriter, Nuala O'Connor, Aileen Dillane, Leagues O'Toole, Vincent Woods and Brian Mullen. Ireland's Favourite Folk Song presenter and folk legend Mary Black will chair the proceedings. You'll find more information on our jury here.
Their job will be to assess your nominations and choose ten songs that not only reflect your choices, but that also tell the fullest possible story of folk music in this country.
We'll reveal those ten folk songs on RTÉ Radio, Television and Online in April - and we hope you'll join us then for the next stage of the journey. For further information on your vote and the selection process, see the project's terms and conditions here.
"Folk is the music of the people, by the people and for the people."

The overall winning song will be announced on The Late Late Show at the end of May.
