A Glimpse Into RTÉ Archives Document Collection

RTÉ Archives holds thousands of documents, programme files and scripts from the earliest days of 2RN in the 1920s to the present.

RTÉ Archives holds thousands of documents, programme files and scripts from the earliest days of 2RN in the 1920s to the present day. The records contain core documents, correspondence, memoranda, contracts, scripts and many publications.

This exhibition offers a flavour of the type of materials held, from handwritten news reports to letters from viewers.

The selection includes documents as diverse as a booklet published in conjunction with the agricultural series 'Telefís Feirme' to a sample page from a radio drama written in Gaelic script.

A graph shows the number of wireless licences issued in 1927 while another document gives the results of a survey of audience reaction to Irish dancing and music on television.

There are also interview notes from 'The Late Late Show' files and correspondence relating to the popular soap opera 'The Riordans'.

RTÉ Archives continues to collect, catalogue and digitise its collections and our aim is to make more material accessible as time goes on.
