The Police Authority in the North has welcomed a report from a Civil Liberties Group which calls for the appointment of Lay Visitors for Police Stations and Interrogation Centres.

Report shows Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) Interrogation Centre at Castlereagh in Belfast.

Press conference hosted by the Committee on the Administration of Justice.

Copy of the report entitled, ‘Lay Visitors to Police Stations in Northern Ireland’, and copy of a similar report published in England following the Brixton Riots in London.

Interview with Brice Dickson, Committee on Administration of Justice, who says that the involvement of lay people would have a positive impact on the well-being of detainees in Northern Ireland.
