Orange Order parade in Drumcree curtailed in protest at an RUC decision to re-route it away from a nationalist area.

Along the route, Reverend Hugh Ross conducted a brief prayer service. He criticised the police and the British government's security policy. He called on the marchers to disperse peacefully. However, a small group decided to rip down the barricade and the RUC and British army moved in.

Meanwhile, in the Nationalist Garvaghy Road area, a local festival was held with an open air folk concert.
