The crib at the Mansion House, Dublin was blessed by Canon Billy Wynne, the vicar of St. Anne's Church, Dawson Street and Father Tony Walsh, curate of St Andrews, Westland Row.
Report shows children from St. Brigid's Nursery in Mountjoy Square and St. Joseph's Nursery off Cork Street singing carols at the opening.
Among those attending the ceremony was the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Bertie Ahern.
