A cavalcade from Phoenix Park led by Santa, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Jim Tunney, and Miss Ireland Anne-Marie Gannon, marks the beginning of the RTÉ Children's Christmas party.
560 children from all parts of Ireland are greeted at RTÉ studios by RTÉ personalities including Pat Ingoldsby, RTÉ Director General Vincent Finn, and the chairman of the RTÉ authority Jim Culleton. Among the guests of honour was Bosco. Entertainment was provided by Fossetts Circus. The higlight of the day was the arrival of Santa, assisted by entertainer Brendan Grace.
