The former gable wall of terraced houses painted with the slogan You Are Now Entering Free Derry has been the subject of local debate. Some residents living near Free Derry Corner say that the wall is a death trap and want it demolished.

Two meetings of residents have been held by the Bogside Community Association to discuss the future of the iconic wall and decided that it should remain. Derry City Council has yet to make a decision on its future.
