The Arrivals '06 exhibition at Shannon Airport has been created by Limerick IT School of Art and Design students.

Travellers through Shannon Airport over the past few weeks have been greeted by the surprising sight of a bright red Massey Ferguson tractor wrapped in cling film in the arrivals hall.

The Limerick students have filled the vast spaces around the terminal building. Each exhibit has a theme. A travel portal exhibit is themed around the word 'travel' being lost to this generation. The exhibition will bring the work of the Limerick students to a wider audience.

Student, Anne Genevieve Hanway, says that as an artist, it is nice to know that a lot of people will see your work. Another student, Sally Ann MacFadden, is hopeful that people will relate to the material on show. Mike Fox, course leader at LIT, says that students have learnt how to set up an exhibition, how to deal with the public, and how to work with a large organisation like the airport authority. They have also learnt about taking artworks out of a gallery space and putting them in a large public space.
