Cha and Miah discuss the rise in the price of electricity.

Cha and Miah (Frank Duggan and Michael Twomey) are not happy with the increase in prices introduced by the Electricity Supply Board. Miah says that the only thing that would surprise him about the ESB is if they dropped the price. Cha recalls an ESB advertising campaign informing people how to save electricity. Miah sees that this campaign had Monica Sheridan telling people how to boil an egg in cold water.

Miah explains the basics of economics and how supply and demand work to Cha.

Ecomomics are the science whereby people discover what they done wrong too late.

Miah says that the ESB has been borrowing money hand over fist for years, accumulating huge debt. This is how business tycoons operate and the customer pays the price.

A big debt is better than money in the building society.
