The impact of the fouth Atlantic storm in weeks is felt in many towns and villages across Ireland.
The impact of Storm Desmond was felt across most counties. Drivers in Donegal were forced to turn back as roads became impassable after rivers burst their banks. In Ballybofey and Castlefin, houses and properties were flooded.
Roads were also badly affected by floodwaters in County Leitrim. The road between Kinlough and Rossinver became impassable after a landslide.
Residents in Kenmare County Kerry were using sand bags at premises in an attempt to hold back flood water. Business owner Patrick Cronin, paid tribute to the great community spirit in the area.
The main Cork to Kerry road through Glenfesk is closed, with Gardaí, the army and mountain rescue teams helping to assist people from their homes. Some homes in Tralee were also flooded. One distraught resident, Pamela Roche, spoke to RTÉ News about the devastation she has felt.
My whole house is ruined.
In Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, the local GAA club and pitches were flooded.
There was minor flooding in Dublin and a number of cars were damaged by a fallen tree.
Passengers were stranded at airports and ferry ports, as flights and sailings have been cancelled, diverted or delayed.
The status red rain warning from Met Éireann for Connacht, Clare, Kerry and Donegal remains in place. Orange and yellow wind and rain warnings are in place for most of the rest of the country.
