Armed raid at the Bank of Ireland on Clontarf Road in Dublin.

Three raiders held up the staff at the Bank of Ireland in Clontarf and got away with an estimated £6,000.

Three men entered the local fish and chip shop in Clontarf and ordered four chickens. Before their order was completed, these three men who were the raiders, left and walked around the corner into the bank as it was about to close at 12.30 pm.

There were about six customers in the bank at the time. The were forced by the raiders to kneel on the ground. No customers or members of staff were injured during the robbery. The raiders made their getaway in a wine coloured car.

This is the second time the bank has been targeted in the last year. On the previous occasion, when the bank was raided, a Garda detective surprised the thieves. By coincidence, the same detective was in the bank half an hour before the raid today.
