President of the Republic of Zambia Dr Kenneth Kaunda addresses the Irish people
President Kenneth Kaunda while on a four day visit to Ireland, appeals to the people of Ireland for help on behalf of the people of Zambia.
I bring you greetings from my government and the people of Zambia.
He calls upon Irish people to come to Zambia to help build a truly non-racial society. The country needs accountants, engineers, architects, doctors, nurses and teachers to help the people of Zambia.
We are not moaning about the past because we believe wise men live in the present and prepare themselves for the future.
President Kenneth Kaunda says that Zambia holds no bitterness towards the British and believes there is a need to start afresh to build a future for the country.
The president highlights some attractions in Zambia that may encourage Irish people to come to live and work there. These include Victoria Falls and national game parks where visitors can see all kinds of African wildlife. He pleads with Irish people to play a part in building a better Zambia.
