Students occupy Kevin Street College in a protest calling for greater public spending on education.

Joe Madden, President of the Students Union at Kevin Street College, wants students to boycott classes and look for public support for their demands.

Students are occupying the college overnight and will boycott classes during the two day protest. Students will take to the streets to garner public support and to put pressure on the government into increasing expenditure on education.

We're demanding further expenditure on vocational education.

Joe Madden says the Vocational Education Committee budget for 1974 has been cut by 22 per cent. This has resulted in hardship for students at Kevin Street College, a lack of teachers and technicians, poor equipment, inadequate library services, and overcrowding in classes and laboratories.
