Members of the Irish Army Ranger Wing train at the Curragh Camp in County Kildare.
Under Commandant Eamonn Quigley, an elite corps of the Irish Defense Forces give a demonstration of Ranger training. The Ranger training course, comparable to commando training, started in 1968. To date about 200 soldiers have completed the five week course in which they are trained to perform under conditions of weather, terrain, fatigue, hunger and danger.
During the demonstration the Rangers descend along ropes, hang from a helicopter and during a training run they use a call-and-response chant,
We are Rangers, mighty mighty Rangers.
