Britney Spears plays the first of two dates in Dublin as part of her Circus Tour.

Following a much covered breakdown and subsequent comeback, the life of Britney Spears has been more like that of a reality TV star, than a pop singer. Britney Spears the performer is back in business. As part of the European leg of the Circus Starring Britney Spears, also known as the Circus Tour, she plays two dates at the O2 in Dublin.

RTÉ 2fm DJ Jim-Jim Nugent describes what to expect from the Circus Tour,

It really is like seeing something from the West End.

Britney Spears fans outside the O2 are in high spirits.

She’s like the most famous woman on earth so I can’t wait.

Despite the extravagance of the Circus Tour Britney Spears has been criticised for miming her vocals, or as it is officially termed lip–synching.

Her Irish fans believe that even if she is miming Britney Spears is worth every penny.

It doesn’t matter, it’s her in the flesh on the stage, that’s all that matters.

Another fan explains why Britney Spears is not singing live during the Circus Tour,

She does very fast dance routines, and obviously, they’re very energetic, it’s hard to sing that way so I understand, sometimes she has to mime.

It is a big weekend in general for music in general as Oasis are playing at Slane Castle with about 80,000 fans expected.
