Questions about corporate governance and financial practices at The Football Association of Ireland.
Ahead of a Dáil Public Accounts Committee investigation into government grants into football, the FAI council had to satisfy members that no financial irregularities had taken place.
At the Citywest Hotel, former Eircom League chairman Brendan Dillon had asked questions and raised concerns about the running of the association since new Chief Executive Officer Fran Rooney took over. Brendan Dillon has now been granted permission to examine the accounts of the association.
CEO Fran Rooney says that the council is very happy with the corporate governance and transparency at the FAI.
Any council member is free to obtain any information they want in relation to the running of the association.
Fran Rooney says the FAI is happy to answer any questions presented by the Public Accounts Committee.
