Smokie perform their biggest hit at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin.

The British band Smokie formed in 1964 and were at the height of their fame during the 1970s. Released in 1976 ‘Living Next Door to Alice’ was the band's biggest hit reaching number 1 in six countries including Ireland.

Originally released by the Australian band New World ‘Living Next Door to Alice’ was composed by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman in 1972.

In 1986 Alan Barton replaced Chris Norman as Smokie’s lead singer. The band performs ‘Living Next Door to Alice’ at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. The line-up sees founding members Terry Uttley on bass and guitarist Alan Silson joined by drummer Steve Pinnell, lead singer Alan Barton and keyboard player Martin Bullard.

In 1988 Smokie undertook a world tour that took them to Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and East Germany. In March 1989 Smokie will embark upon a 15-date Irish tour.
