Across the country thousands take part in Darkness Into Light walks bringing hope to those impacted by suicide.

The Darkness Into Light event organised by Pieta House promotes suicide awareness and raises money towards the services offered by the charity.

Over 14,000 people gathered in the darkness at the Phoenix Park in Dublin while thousands more walk or run at events across the country. Many of those taking part have personal stories to tell of how their families had been affected by suicide.

We're thinking of everyone lost in the dark.

The Darkness Into Light event is now in its sixth year and continues to grow.

Joan Freeman CEO and founder of Pieta House believes that Darkness Into Light gives people renewed hope that people will not be afraid to speak out and seek help.

We bring people who are in a very dark place into the light.

The event also took place in Sydney and London.
