A selection of untitled reels and a tune called 'The Sligo Maid' open this episode of ‘A Job of Journeywork’ presented by the broadcaster and music collector Ciarán Mc Mathúna.

Andy Roe from Emo in County Laois plays the button accordion, John Carlos from Castleplunkett, County Roscommon is on the banjo, Terry and Seamus Shannon from Longford are on the guitar and button accordion respectively, and two other Roscommon men are also part of the company - Tommy Flynn on the fiddle and Josie McDermott on the flute.

Recorded in 1977, four of the programmes are based in Clondra County Longford which is at the terminus of the Royal Canal. Killybegs in County Donegal and Cashel, County Tipperary are the other locations.
