The Leinster Open Water Skiing Championship takes place at Ballymore Eustace in County Kildare.
The rain did not deter the water skiers at the Leinster Open Championships in Ballymore Eustace which was sponsored by Pepsi. Strong crosswinds made it difficult for the competitors in the slalom competition. Even experts like Robert Bewley, Richard Crisp and Alan Dagg failed to finish the course. They were back on the water to demonstrate their skills in the trick skiing competition.
Since they're going to get wet anyway, a drop of rain doesn't deter the water skiers.
The championship title hung on the jumps event with Kingsley Webb in the lead having come first in the slalom runs. Alan Dagg, the Irish Champion, is just a few points behind having made up a lot of ground in the tricks event. To win the championship, Alan Dagg has to beat his own Irish record. His jump of 130 and a quarter feet makes it a new Irish record and he retains the Leinster Champion title.
