Ireland and England friendly international at Lansdowne Road.
The game had to be abandoned when England fans went on the rampage. Following a goal for Ireland by David Kelly, the face of English football is disgraced by the travelling English fans who rip up the seats and throw debris down onto the pitch from the upper west stand of Lansdowne Road.
The referee calls the players off the pitch.
After the match had been cancelled mid game, the fans were evacuated from the stadium apart from about 4,500 English fans, who were later escorted out by the Gardaí. Rioting broke out and arrests were made.
This report by Gabriel Egan and Jim Beglin was broadcast on 15 February 1995.
