A Dublin road was closed for several hours this morning after a truck carrying aerosol cans caught fire.
Dublin Fire Brigade units from Tallaght and Blanchardstown called to the scene in Lucan after the fire broke out before 8am.
Some residents around the Lucan road area reported hearing "firework" sounds due to the cans exploding, while the Dublin Fire Brigade said the load also included fuel oils and textiles making for a "high intensity fire".
There are no reports of any injuries. The road was closed for a number of hours as a clean-up operation took place.
A spokesperson for South Dublin County Council said that it reopened at 11am and warned that there is some surface damage following the blaze.
He said that this damage will be repaired over the coming days.
The Environmental Protection Agency has also been contacted about the incident.
