Bank of Ireland has appointed Pat Farrell, Chief Executive of the Irish Banking Federation, as its new head of communications.

Mr Farrell previously worked in EBS Building Society and as chief executive of Galvia Hospital in Galway.

He is a former senator and a former general secretary of Fianna Fáil.
